Must see TV - Week beginning Sat 5 May 2018

A better week with a lot of new content on the TV to watch. Besides the football (Come on Cardiff), the return of Gold Divers as got me excited I can wait to find out what’s happen with Emily. I have noted some new stuff due for this month.

Car Share is an highlight and later in the month there will be the final episode and will John and Kayleigh tie the note with a grand wedding.

Sunday – Sky Sports – Cardiff City v Reading 12 noon ***New***

If Cardiff City win this final game of the season, promotion baby to the Premiership next season. The Cardiff City Stadium is a sell-out for the game against Reading and possibly for the promotion party. If rivals for promotion Fulham were to lose, Cardiff will still go up but it is in our hands and a must win game. We must avoid the dreaded play-off lottery.
Sunday – Sky One – Carnage 8 pm ***New Series***

Welcome to Carnage, the most extreme contest on the planet where thirty purpose built, weaponised vehicles clash and smash in three thrilling arenas in the blazing heat of the vast, arid desert. The vehicles will have the look of Mad Max cars and I am interested enough to recommend it. Hosted by Freddie Flintoff, Lethal Bizzle and Vick Hope

Sunday – Channel 4 - Bake Off The Professionals 8pm ***New Series***

Professional duos from across the UK go head to head, aiming to impress judges and celebrated pastry chefs Cherish Finden and Benoit Blin, and progress to the next round. In the first episode, the teams must finely design two batches of uniform miniature classics - 24 conversations and 24 tartes aux fruits - in just three and a half hours. This followed by the showpiece, in which a reinvention of the Black Forest gateau is required in five hours.

Monday – Channel 4 - The £100k Drop 4pm ***New Series***

Davina McCall is back presenting a quiz show in which contestants start with £100,000 in their hands and are challenged to place quantities of the cash over trapdoors as they face a series of questions, the wrong answers to which will lose them money every time they slip up. This show was a big Friday night prime time TV for channel 4 but seems to have been dropped to teatime TV now.

Monday – BBC 1 – Peter Kay’s Car Share Unscripted 10pm ***New***

Its back Car Share staring Peter Kay and Sian Gibson returning for a one-off special episode of the comedy about the daily commute of supermarket employees John and Kayleigh, with the two stars taking the plunge and improvising the dialogue for the whole show. I will predict this will win the BAFTA Television Awards for Comedy.

Tuesday – BBC 2 – Kate Humble: Back to the Land 7pm ***New Series***

Return of the show in which the presenter champions the UK's most inspirational rural entrepreneurs. The first edition comes from Cornwall and features Tim and Caro, who free dive to pick seaweed. After a tough first few years living in caravans, Kate meets them at their most crucial point of expansion - they are about to move to a new premises, are embarking on cultivating their own seaweed for the first time, and Caro is pregnant with her second child. Plus, a visit to a duck farm run by a couple who used to work in the haulage business.

Tuesday – Discovery Channel – Gold Divers 10pm ***New Series***

Gold in Nome is drying up, pushing miners to extreme new locations in a desperate search for gold. Zeke heads miles off shore to Sledge Island, but the deeper water triggers dangerous side effects for him and his team. Shaun begins to build up his new empire with a brand new claim, however his desperation to find gold may be his downfall as he pushes himself, and his equipment, to the limit! Ken and the 600-ton Myrtle Irene may have beaten him to it. Emily's plan to dive deep is in jeopardy.

Wednesday – E4 – The 100 9pm ***New Series***

For those of you needing a bit of a refresher as to where we left things in Season 4, it left our heroes in a very sticky situation as the remaining nuclear reactors on Earth had begun to melt down and were setting the atmosphere on fire. This led to the majority of the group taking refuge in the Second Dawn bunker, whilst Raven’s group were forced to flee back up to the Ark in space.

Unfortunately, that meant leaving Clarke behind on the surface. The season ended with a 6 year and seven days’ time jump that revealed Clarke had somehow survived the incoming death wave along with a young night blood girl. As Clarke tries to make contact with the Ark, a mysterious spacecraft lands on Earth…

Thursday – Netflix – Safe ***New Series***

Tom’s wife died a year ago and he is bringing up his two daughters, living in a beautiful gated community, with close friends nearby and a new relationship starting. But when his eldest daughter disappears in mysterious circumstances, he realises that in fact he knows nothing about the people closest to him - dark secrets about the people he loves and the place where he lives.

Friday – BBC 2- The Bridge 9pm ***New Series***

The body of a woman is retrieved close to the bridge between Denmark and Sweden. It is found to be that of the Head of the Danish Immigration Board, whose staff had recently been filmed celebrating the success of a case deporting an Iranian homosexual who could face execution on his return. Since Saga has been imprisoned for the murder of her mother, Henrik investigates with his partner Jonas. Scandinavian crime drama, in Danish and Swedish, starring Sofia Helin and Thure Lindhardt.
