We have seen the demise of the top shelf in the shops with the nudey books have all but disappeared in most shops now the middle shelves will be lighter with the end of the lad mags.
Nuts make an exit in 2014, Loaded earlier last year, and ZOO just before Christmas and now FHM magazine has printed its last edition. They were probably killed off by the internet and that the target audience the young city types moved on from the laddish behaviour of the late 1980s, and 1990s. I think I bought one of these mags (FHM) only because Kelly Brook was on the cover.
Today’s city types are more likely to be moisturising and following the latest grooming trends than reading a lads mag full of birds with big jugs, getting smashed out on booze or advising lads where to go for the filthiest stag locations normally in Eastern Europe. All the above can be cater for on the World Wide Web for free.
The TV presenter Holly Willoughby graced the final cover with a striking black-and-white shot in a cleavage-revealing dress, blowing a kiss, alongside the coverline: "Bye! x"
