Cardiff City march towards Anfield for today’s 3pm kick-off. Where they will face unbeaten Liverpool so what are the chances of the Bluebirds winning their second Premier League game well read the comments made by Cardiff boss Neil Warnock.
Warnock has been impressed with Liverpool's progress under Jurgen Klopp calling him "an exceptional manager". "It is virtually impossible for any team in the current game of beating Liverpool," he said. "Their front three is probably the best front three in the world.” They were having a bit of a bromance at their pre-match press interviews has they prepare for their first meeting later.
Meanwhile, at the Cardiff City Stadium last weekend, Cardiff got their first win of the season against Fulham and Warnock admits it will be a tough ask for his players to repeat that result at Anfield. However, I will stick my head out there … My heart tells me like all the pundits everywhere a Liverpool win but my staunch belief in Cardiff City still goes a Liverpool win.
The Bluebirds are just one position above the relegation zone, edging out Fulham on goal difference with only five points from the opening nine fixtures. A win today will see Liverpool top the Premier League.
But at yesterday’s press conference, Klopp laughed off Warnock’s claims that beating Liverpool Is ''Virtually Impossible''. They come into the game after a mid-week Champions League fixture home to Red Star Belgrade and won 4-0, hopefully for Cardiff they are knackered – cream crackered and go into thinking they didn’t have to turn up to win. The Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp can’t wait and is excited to meet 'character' Neil Warnock.
The big question is can the mighty Bluebird’s get more than a football lesson out of the game later today.
The last time we played Liverpool was in our previous visit to the Premier League and we were spanked has they did the double over us luckless Welshman. In the corresponding game in 2013/14, the score line was 3-1 while nine goals hit the net at the Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff losing 6-3. Before the 60’s Liverpool were our bitch, we regularly beat them home and away if only today.
There is some doubt over Cardiff pair Harry Arter and Josh Murphy both are nursing injuries and will be assessed possibility right up to kick-off. Gary Madine could make a return to the squad following a virus but Joe Ralls must complete a two-match suspension. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (knee), Lee Peltier (shoulder), and Danny Ward (knee) remain sidelined.
During Klopp’s pre-Cardiff press conference, the manager seemed to suggest that some of his lesser-seen players could get an opportunity on Saturday and I say go on and try it … show us some respect or we will come a bite your ass Kloppy.
