Cardiff make the trip to Capital city and visit QPR

Football time again! This time of the year, they come thick and fast just a pity the results haven’t gone in favour of my beloved club Cardiff City. Three defeats on the trot with two at the once invincible Cardiff City stadium it’s being a dismal festive period with the last chance later today with the New Year’s Day clash at QPR.

The run of poor form as seen the Bluebirds drop to fourth in the league table with Derby who have hit a fine vain of form now second in the league. I am going to say that unless Wolves hit a serious bad patch of form the league title will be theirs while the others fight it out for the remaining automatic promotion spot. Manager’s talk of a top six finish and the play-offs but you know they would kill for one of the two automatic promotion spots.

We can see from the table Wolves are now ten points ahead of Derby but between them Bristol City and Cardiff only one-point separates the three teams with a sizeable lead over fifth place Leeds (5 points).

So a New Year’s Day trip to London and QPR a game Cardiff must win if there want to keep the pressure on that second automatic promotion place with a break from league football scheduled with the third round of the FA Cup fixture next weekend.

Back in August QPR visited the Cardiff City Stadium, lost 2-1 with the victory helping the Welshman remain top of the Championship table, and wouldn’t we love to be in that position today. Hoilett and Bamba were the scorers both of whom should be in the squad for the trip to London. With the quick turnaround in games, players are bound to pick up injury niggles so we will have to wait on the team sheet later to see who is in and out.

Cardiff winger Junior Hoilett and former QPR player could feature later he was schedule to play against Preston but a bout of illness before the game. He was dropped to the bench but was a second-half substitute. In the press, Craig Bryson and Joe Bennett have been subject to fitness tests.
