The Prize for beating Mansfield in tonight’s replay – A Home game against Manchester City

FA CUP replay football tonight and what could have been a mediocre game has been given a kick into life after the Fourth Round draw. An all ticket game tonight the reason for the clamour a home game against Manchester City in the next round. The home fans will be hoping a ticket tonight will be good for the possibility of a win and the fixture against the Premiership team.

Yes a home fixture against current Premiership runaway leaders with the prospect of a full ground and a worldwide audience. The game is one of the live games chosen for the fourth round. I love cup games although I seem to be in the minority these days when league position is god and weaken teams or the norm. Chances are Manchester City will play a weaken team for their fourth round fixture.

“The FA Cup has lost lustre because of endless rotation and degrading in comparison to the Champions League and Premier League which now stretches down the leagues.

Move semi-finals away from Wembley, make the winner get a Champion League spot instead of Europa League and people would take it seriously again.” But it won’t happen.

I believe fans as well as owners, managers for the downgrading of the FA Cup so much so the final has been shunted to an early evening fixture from the traditional 3pm kick-off. Works better for the TV companies I believe.

Reading my social media many of my fellow Cardiff City fans would prefer to concentrate on our League position currently while I feel we could do both. Yes, we have injury problems but still I think you would find every player up for the game to beat Mansfield and a game against the Premier’s finest.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock made four changes from the team that lost at QPR on New Year Day’s fixture for the FA Cup game against Mansfield a week later where they secured a replay of a 0-0 draw. I expect he could do the same again the league is the priority. However I have a feel he would love the chance to have a go at Man City and when the team sheet is release could surprise us.

There is no news of any injuries after the 4-0 win over Sunderland at the weekend but one player you unavailable is new loan signing Yanic Wildschut, as he is cup-tied. Will Warnock make many changes? The Mansfield boss his reported to be playing his strongest possible team as they eye a game with Manchester City.
