Another draw for Cardiff City, another point instead of three, it feels like we draw all the time. We have drawn enough to dent any idea of automatic promotion and it’s not helping our play off prospects either. The draw also helped opponents Charlton lift themselves off the bottom of the Championship table.
The next two opponents for the Bluebirds are vying for automatic promotion a daunting prospect the truth be told. However, being a Cardiff fan comes with a strong sense of optimism something I find you need especially for the last decade or so as dreams became reality, Wembley and an all to brief visit to the Premier League.
Some good news off the field this week was news that club owner Vincent Tan is sorting out the crippling debts the club has run up. It that’s true nice one Mister Tan a steady ship is a happy ship and all that. I was interested to see after his recent pep talk to the players, thou must shoot, had worked.
So I checked out the stats after the game using the BBC. The total was 18 shots with only three on target. It just so happens the previous game was also a 0-0 draw against MK Dons and there was only 10 shots in that game with just two on target. Can the extra shots be the Tan factor? Time will show.
After the game Cardiff City boss Russell Slade said, “This is two points dropped. We had 22 shots but only three or four on target.”
Has Tan’s shoot on site policy become official at the club. Next, he may ask the players to trip over a blade of grass in the penalty area because we don’t win enough penalties. More shots didn’t pan out yesterday maybe it would take 18 on target to make a difference but somehow I don’t see that happening.
A clean sheet is always welcome but it brings attention to our fine goalkeeper David Marshall who even in today’s press is rumour to be a summer target of Premiership Everton.
