Destination Lyon - Planes, Trains & Automobiles - TV Coverage

The history books would suggest Portugal are favourites for tonight’s all-important game but recent form in particular in this competition Wales should be the favourites.

Yes, the biggest game in Welsh football and just 90minutes, maybe extra time and penalties away from one of the two major national football competitions open to Wales, you just have to love this. Hand on heart I do not think any Welsh fan would have believe this for Wales with myself I was thinking maybe last 16 at the most and boy did I get that wrong. This is a semi-final game! Who would have put the name Wales in a semi-final, in football.

For years, the Welsh media have side lined football in favour of Rugby the supposed national sport of Wales, which has always been rubbish. Football is widely played in Wales at all levels with more players, teams than rugby who live off the 6 Nations and a mickey mouse World Cup played by a hand full of countries compared to the football World Cup.

The TV, newspapers and social media is awash with stories about Wales and the game tonight and if we were to make the final god knows what it would be like. What is not to love about the Welsh fans wandering around Lyon singing, drinking without a hint of trouble? The old inter club rival has been nowhere to be seen on the TV anyway it all about Wales as it should be.

Something else I noticed about the Welsh fans the lack of calling fans plastic/part time supporters which is common with Cardiff City fans, my club. Welsh fans are just happy for the support, which again is how it should be.

You have to look to the old Home International competition for the last time Wales won something and way back 1937 the last time we won it outright although it was shared a few times before the competition ended in 1985.

I dare to believe Wales could do it and reach the Final and I will be listening the BBC coverage wondering how soon they will mention England in the build up to the game.

The last time so many Welsh were in France it was during the D Day landings and with a worldwide audience watching the game on TV what a great advert for Welsh football.
