The Road to the FA Cup starts again - Road to Wembley

The Road to the FA Cup Final got underway this afternoon with an Extra Preliminary Round games. For a treat from the BBC were streaming a game via the iPlayer. It was a Liverpool derby game between Litherland Remyca v AFC Liverpool.

This was real grassroots football with just basic perimeter fencing and two tiny stands, one standing and the other seated, maybe big enough for 20 fans. The pitch was surrounded by an athletic track. There was one camera, just the one and it made the game more interesting than the 20+ at premiership grounds. Catering was Burger vans, but no need for a gold credit card for pie and chips.

The game was very good we were seeing players playing the game, hard tackling, and no rolling around the floor as if they were hit with a sniper shot. The game was well controlled by the ref. Litherland normally play in front of 80/100 fans but today their looked to be a crowd of around 200.

Full Time: Litherland Remyca 2-0 AFC Liverpool

Has you should know by now I have a team I will be following from the earlies round to the final and this season choose to start with Little Common. They were one of a number of new teams that had never played in the competition before.

The game was played on Eastbourne’s ground there landlords and a late goal robbed Little Common from a replay. So it is Eastbourne in the Preliminary Round and they are scheduled to play either Chatham / Littlehampton away.

Full Time: Little Common 1-3 Eastbourne United
