The so call bigger clubs will be rolling out there kids and youngsters while the teams regarded as smaller club will be taking the games more serious playing season veterans from league football.
One of the biggest clubs in the world will be partaking of this early round, none other than Manchester United. It will be the first time they have appeared in the second round of the competition since the 1995-96 season, oh how the mighty have fallen.
The Bluebirds have a trip to Port Vale with Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer throwing in the youngsters for the game. The coach will be like a kindergarten trip. Solskjaer said ahead of the Capital 1 Cup second-round tie,
"This is a great chance to play some of my young players.
"You want to give them a chance and there will be players there seeing this as a start for the rest of their careers.
"Young players in England need something to look forward to and you need to see if they ready once in a while."
If I were manager, I would go for it putting out my best possible team. With the possibility of a Wembley final and a Europa League place, it would be well worth it. The compertition is not popular with most fans, which is often shown in poor attendances. Bucking the trend tonight should be MK Dons who have a home fixture to the once great Manchester United.
I am not one of those who believes a good cup run is detrimental to your league season. It was the reason given by some fans for Cardiff’s fall in form after the Liverpool final, which they believe cost the club a possible promotion.
Port Vale will be making changes after Saturdays defeat and the shaky start to the season.
