Jumped ship from its normal berth on BBC 2 ‘The Great British Bake Off’ is now prime time on BBC 1 tonight that’s popularity for you. I will be watching and I don’t know why because I hate cakes.
The only cake that floats my boat is a bland, boring Madeira and a not too fancy chocolate cake (plain) so it might has well be a bar of chocolate. Well factually, that’s not true as my favourite cake is a fishcake but I can’t see one of these babies on the menu.
Everyone seems to be making cakes these days and selling them via social media mainly thanks to the British Bake off. I like most cooking and baking shows if there is good banter. The food they knock up is mostly not, what I would like to see on my plate however, I do enjoy watching them.
There is good interaction between the presenters in the show and the contestants and I have been a long-time fan of Mel (Giedroyc) and Sue (Perkins). Twelve contestants will be doing battle in the tent to become the best British baker, one will be a 17 years old teenager, and she is drawing a big media reaction. Has the youngsters the knowledge and skills to see off the oldest contestant a 69, grandmother?
