The Great British Pie Off

I was sitting watching the ‘Great British Bake Off’ wondering why. I rarely like the end product as I don’t like cakes but this week it was bread so I’m a bit happier. It was biscuits the week before and I am not a big fan of them either but I am religiously sitting there watching.

The funny thing is many of the cookery programmes I watch I am not always a fan of the food prepared. When it comes to my food, I’m not adventurous and the most exotic food on my menu are the likes of curries. I am more your bog standard British food type, chips with everything. If I were to write a list of likes and dislikes, the latter would engulf the likes, sad but true.

I have come up with an idea for a new cookery show, come competition that is somewhat newish but maybe on a grander scale. A competition to bake the best pie, pasty and sausage roll in the land, which would be my kind of heaven in a TV cookery show. Even with me being on a healthy eating plan, I could enjoy such a show. The idea would be you would have to make all three adding to the difficulty in a hour show.

Could anyone not enjoy a show like this?

Has a former pie, pasty, and sausage roll devotee I feel the British public needs a show like this to get back to their roots. We are awash with good amateur cooks and we don’t need to see fancy cooking for enjoyment. Maybe the prize could be the winning product on sell at a sporting venue.

The funny thing is that I myself have never made a homemade pie. The closest I’ve been to making a pie is a shepherd pie so I have set myself a task in the next week or so to break my virginity in pie making.
