Must see TV - Week beginning 07/10/2017 - My Choice

The Autumn TV schedule is awash with new shows I seen to be saving lots of content to watch later. There looks to be some good stuff this upcoming week and with all the hype, I am looking forward to seeing The Gifted Sunday, Gold Rush Tuesday and the return of The Exorcist Wednesday.

It was good to see an old favourite Z Nation back last week always nice viewing a zombie apocalypse over the years I have picked up many ideas on survival when it happens.

Saturday – Premiere Sky Cinema – Resident Evil: The Final Chapter 8pm ***Film***

The human race's last hope against apocalyptic obliteration is super soldier Alice (Milla Jovovich), but she's been stripped of her psychic powers. What can she do but fight on like always. She must form alliances and rally survivors in Raccoon City for the climactic battle against the Umbrella Corporation and its ravenous hordes of the undead. This is the sixth instalment of the film and I have enjoyed them all with no care what the critics have to say.

Sunday – Fox Channel – The Gifted 9pm ***New Series***

The Fox channel have been banging on about airing this show for weeks and we finally have the chance to be viewers. The series from 20th Century Fox Television in association with Marvel Television, tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

Sunday – Discovery Channel – Gold Rush: The Story so far 9pm ***New***

Going back to the beginning when Parker was just a kid and job-less Todd decided to gamble it all to make his fortune mining in Alaska. The Story So Far charts their struggles, highs and lows across 7 seasons as they compete in their search for gold. I have always been a fan of Parker and his grandad who passed away at the start of the last series and Todd crazily chases gold all over the place with not much to show for it the majority of the time.

Monday – BBC1 – A Matter of Life and Debt 11am ***New Series***

This brand new series looks at Credit Unions and Responsible Lenders across the country, telling the amazing stories of people whose lives have been transformed by an ethical loan.
Today, loans help couple Katerina and Colin set up a health food shop in rural Wales and Syrian refugee Razan take her own line of halloumi cheese out of the family kitchen and into the big time.
Viewers will meet a mum who ends up homeless after struggling with redundancy and spiralling debts. And the show follows members of the Lewisham and Bromley credit union, including 78 year-old salsa dancer Leroy who needs £400 for some furniture for his new flat.

Monday – BBC1 - Money for Nothing 3:45pm ***New Series***

My afternoon crush is back entrepreneur Sarah Moore saves rubbish by lying in wait for people at a recycle centre dumping their junk. She then takes them away normally three items of which two she farms out to other designers while she transforms one herself.

The idea is to turn the junk into valuable pieces, bespoke, making money for the people who had no idea there was cash to be made from their trash.

Tuesday – Channel 4 – Celebrity Hunted 9:15pm ***New Series***

Seven famous faces - Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing and Spencer Matthews, Jay McGuiness and Siva Kaneswaran from The Wanted, Gogglebox’s Steph and Dom and Anneka Rice - will attempt to stay off the radar and remain at large for two weeks as crack team of hunters try and track them down.

With former police officers, intelligence and army personnel hot on their tail and faces recognisable across the UK will they be able to stay undetected?

Just like in the hit non-celeb series, the famous faces will film their own adventures themselves as they take extreme measures to try to evade capture from our expert hunters. What they do and where they go will be up to them – but with a team of Hunters seeking them out and tracking them down, their task of going dark will be truly tested.

Tuesday – Discovery Channel – Gold Rush 9pm ***New Series***

A new series kicks off and we can expect fireworks between Todd Hoffman and Parker Schnabel, with a growing and bitter rivalry between the two there is a reported $100,000 bet on who will find the most gold before the end of the season.

Parker Schnabel has been the Mr Gold of this show regularly sweeping up the most gold and along with Tony Beets who brought old style gold dredging and acquired another last season. Last season, Hoffman came up short of his 5,000-oz goal in Oregon, but now he’s determined to be successful in Colorado and he’s enlisted his father, Jack, and 18-year-old son, Hunter, to help.

While Schnabel, 22, was happy to accept the pricey wager, Hoffman isn’t his only competition. His landlord Tony Beets, “The Viking”, has already taken $2.3 million in royalties over the last four years.

This season, Parker has a plan to buy his freedom with a deal on new virgin ground — as long as he can get his wash plant Big Red up and running.

Wednesday – W Channel – My Dream Home: Brother v Brother 2pm ***New Series***

I like these home makeover show and have watched other shows of the brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott. The show is based in the USA but still its good viewing for those who like these kind of show like me.

The format for this show is the brothers battle it out to impress a guest judge and in this show it Vanilla Ice, Ice Baby himself. On this episode, the two have seven days to get their living and dining rooms ready to be judged.

Wednesday – Syfy Channel - The Exorcist 9pm ***New Series***

Opening an entirely new chapter in the iconic franchise, Father Tomas (Alfonso Herrera) and a newly collarless Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) head out of Chicago and on the road, searching out evil. Across the Atlantic, Father Bennett (Kurt Egyiawan) attempts to weed out those within the Vatican who have turned against God.

Ultimately, Tomas and Marcus are led to Andrew Kim (John Cho), a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle. A powerful force targets one of the children under Andrew’s care and the two priests head west, setting themselves on a collision course with Hell.

Thursday – Dave Channel – Red Dwarf 9pm ***New Series***

Everyone must know the premise of Red Dwarf by now but here is the shows bio. Astronaut David Lister survives a disaster in space that wipes out the crew of the mining ship Red Dwarf in this BBC production. However, Lister is not alone. A hologram of his dead bunkmate Arnold and a creature that was once the ship's cat join him in his journey toward Earth. Along the way they pick up a robot.

Red Dwarf season 12 comprises the second batch of six episodes, out of the twelve that were filmed in early 2016, and as such, you might expect that there isn't much difference in tone between 11 and 12. Cured, a high concept opener, which contemplates the nature of evil as only this show, can, and we know we're in for a treat.

Friday – Premiere Sky Cinema - Split 8pm ***Film***

An outing takes a sinister turn for three teenage friends (Anya Taylor-Joy, Haley Lu Richardson, and Jessica Sula) when they are kidnapped by a ruthless stranger (James McAvoy) and imprisoned in his basement. They soon learn that their captor has multiple-personality disorder, forcing them to plot their escape without ever knowing which of his 23 personas -- young or old, male or female, benign or monstrous -- they will confront on the way out.

Friday – Comedy Central – South Park 10pm ***New Series***

I still love the antics of South Park kids—Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick— with fat ass Cartman my hero. The show revolves around the four boys and their bizarre adventures in and around the Colorado town of South Park. In the show, a large ensemble of recurring characters add to the mayhem supports them.

The show became infamous for its profanity and dark, surreal humour that satirizes a wide range of topics towards a mature audience.
