FA Cup Qualifying Fourth Round and Onward to the Next Round

FA Cup time again. At the weekend, I enjoyed thanks to the iPlayer a Qualifying Fourth Round fixture live. The game was between St Albans City v Boreham Wood in which the visitors won 3-1. While I was watching this game via my laptop, my son had the misfortune to be watching the bore draw between Liverpool and Manchester United were there was not a goal insight - a win for me.

My armchair road trip to Wembley has lead me to Truro City as my virtual team after beating AFC Sudbury in the last round who temporally had my support until they lost. So they had an away fixture against fellow National South League team Hampton &; Richmond a league fixture only fought out last weekend at Truro that ended 1-1 but today both teams will be hoping for a win. A win would give them a chance to pick themselves against League opposition from Division 1 or 2 who enter the next round.

The First Round Proper is the award to the winners of today’s clash and for those looking ahead three games before the Premiership/Championship teams enter the draw. Currently Truro are in the top three of the National League South while their opponents are down in the wrong end of the table and even with home advanced, Truro are favourites to win according to my bookie.

Truro more are less had full control of the game that they won 2-0 although at the interval the score line was locked at 0-0. In the second haft, the visitor took control of the game.

Some history was made by Truro City who became the first Cornish side to make it to the first round since 1969. They could pull a glamorous tie out of the hat against a League One or Two side, such as Plymouth Argyle or Exeter City, former Premier League champions Blackburn Rovers or the 2008 FA Cup winners Portsmouth.

Although my cruel side or romantic side would love a fixture that would see a game with Carlisle or Hartlepool just for the trip. It would have to be one of the longest away trips in football a coach I would love to be on either way. We will find out later when the draw is made live on BBC2 7pm.
Welsh interest is back with National League Wrexham in this round but it did last long and Newport are in the draw for tonight.
