The plan today was not to blog another film review but I found myself watching “Australian Gogglebox” earlier. I watched via an iffy internet stream but it’s the same format as the Channel 4 show. I find it interesting watching TV from another country.
So I was watching and at the end there normally review an old popular film/movie on show in this episode it was “Ghost” remember Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and the potter’s wheel. Has Aussie families gush and cried over the film I found I was being sucked in and I was soon looking for a copy to watch now, it as to be now!
Something slightly spooky being the title of the film is “Ghost” only days ago it was been shown on my Sky movie package and I gave it a swerve after mulling over should I watch it or not. As far as I am concerned, the film is in the chick-flick department somewhere I rarely go so time for a viewing.
Having just moved into a new apartment, Sam Patrick Swayze he of Dirty Dancing fame and Molly, Demi Moore are deeply in love especially during the pottery scene as "Unchained Melody" plays and famous for about the only time Moore’s character is not crying or welling up.
After a night out at the theatre and a meal their night come to a tragic when Sam is killed during a mugging that looks to have gone wrong. We see Sam kneeling at the body of himself he is stuck in limbo and Sam soon discovers that his death was no accident and must find a way to communicate with Molly as she is in danger.
He (Sam) stumbles across a fake psychic Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg), discovering that in fact she can hear him and sets about securing her help to convince Molly that she is in danger. The danger is coming from his best friend Carl (Tony Goldwyn) who had him killed before Sam under covered he was hiding drug money in a false account.
From there we have the normal game ending this film good winning over evil. Sam with the help of Oda Mae manage to steal away the money and Molly finds out Carl is a bad ‘n’ who comes a copper with a nasty death. The ending scene doesn’t leave a dry eye in the house.
Sounds absolutely daft but in fact this storyline works surprisingly well. I remember the first time I watched "Ghost" I was surprised by who was behind Sam's murder and enjoyed how he went about saving Molly. It's by no means a great edge of your seat thriller but delivers just enough suspense and twists to keep you interested.
