Chicken Curry of the Bone |
After a night out on the piss in town and when those hunger pains hit the only cure is the get your ass straight down to Chippy Lane.
There you will find the ultimate takeaway not like the sad people sitting in McDonalds and the
like with their plastic food. No matter how inebriated you are, the closer you
get to Chippy Lane the more sober you feel and the hungrier you become. I put
it down to the smells from all the different takeaways on offer, but know one beats
Dorothy's for that all important pit stop.

Ok, the best piss-up takeaway is … Chicken Curry off the
Bone.
It’s a Cardiff classic, which looks and tastes like a piece of heaven as it is served up in front of you. Dorothy’s café and fish bar is my
chosen destination although it’s been a while since I have crossed the threshold.
It is still the best place in my book for that instead hangover cure. The queue can be off putting and so can the odd punch-up that occurs from time to time, however,
it is well worth the wait and you are happily entertained by other late
night revellers.
Many people just stand around eating before trying to get a
taxi home. Most taxis won't let you eat in them or take smelly food in their
cabs, but I prefer to wander home eating mine.
Chicken Curry off the Bone is not just a late night piss-up food it’s just as good any time of day. My ritual is always Chicken Curry off the
Bone with chips, but you can half-and-half (chips and rice) or just rice.
It’s filling enough, but I have been known to buy a side
order of one of their fantastic fishcakes.
