Football tonight Cardiff home to Barnsley

After a blank weekend due to the weather this evening Cardiff City are back on the countdown to the end of the season with a home fixture against lowly Barnsley (kick-off 7:45pm). After the weekend, those in the top six along with the Bluebirds who found themselves matchless at the weekend will all be looking to get back to winning ways.

Cardiff have won the last four games and retain four clean sheets while the visitors have won just one in the last five games it would be nice for the Bluebirds go to five wins and another clean sheet. Back in November, Cardiff beat Barnsley 1-0 with a late goal scored by Callum Paterson. The bookies have Cardiff down for a win and so have I predicting a 2-0 win.

With nearly a full fixture list tonight Wolves play tomorrow night away at Leeds a win tonight for the Welshman could see them be just three points behind league leaders Wolves. Third place Aston Villa are four points behind second place Cardiff and are all but gifted a win and the points as they take on bottom club relegation favourites Sunderland.

Fulham (fourth) take on Sheffield United who are just outside the top six and knocking at the door but the game is at Craven Cottage where the Londoner’s have not lost a game at home in the last eight. Derby who occupy fifth are also in London where they take on QPR. Six place Bristol City travel to Preston looking to stay in a Play-off spot.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock says the disruption over the weekend could benefit several injured players given added time to recover.

Cardiff hope Callum Paterson can return from injury and will have a late fitness test, Warnock will also make a late decision on Sean Morrison. Midfield enforcer Aron Gunnarsson has made his long-awaited return to full training.
