Wow the semi-finals! I would not have thought many Welsh fans would have seen that coming before the start of the competition. I do not know about you but I am beginning to have nosebleeds because of the dizzy heights the team have reached.
So a semi-final game against Portugal, which is bound to be, advertised as a battle of Real Madrid teammates Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo. It is rumoured the relationship between the two is a tad fractious at times.
On paper before the start of the Euros, any pundit or fan would have put Portugal well ahead of Wales to reach the semi-finals and I do not think anyone would have believe the Welsh capable of reaching them for a start. Now things have changed with just about everyone dancing the Welsh tune.
On form, it should be Portugal going into this game as underdogs having scrape through to this late stage of the competition. In the group stage, they could only progress to the last 16 as one of the best third place teams with three draws against Hungary, Iceland, and Austria. They then in the next game beat Croatia (1-0) and after 90minutes and extra time in the quarterfinal finished (1-1), they beat Poland on penalties.
Wales should have nothing to fear going into the game anything like last night they will have the measure of Ronaldo and Portugal although Wales go into the game missing two outstanding players. Both Aaron Ramsey the creative heart of the Welsh midfield and defender Ben Davies will miss the semi-final after picking up second tournament bookings.
Now the rush for tickets and accommodation begins most Welsh fans finances running low due to the unexpected extended stay in France. With it being a Wednesday evening kick-off favours of employers will be sort so the Welsh army can hit the road, air, and sea with destination Lyon their target.
