Sunday Crush – Julie Christie

I have not posted a Sunday Crush in a while and then watching ‘Doctor Zhivago’, there she was the beautiful Julie Christie a must for my list. She was icon of the "swinging London" era of the 1960s, hit girl whatever but she was a damn good actress was.

Her breakthrough film role was the (1963) film ‘Billy Liar’ that led to her next film ‘Young Cassidy’ (1965), the same year ‘Darling’ was released, which turned out to be a massive hit with Christie winning the Academy Award for Best Actress along with other awards.

Why a crush you just have to look at her she add style and beauty and she reminds me of another of my crushes Catherine Deneuve both being sophisticated looking in the world of fashion. Her mod style at the time, doe eyes, and tousled hair has put her solidly in the crush hall of fame.

She was very sexy, easy on the eye and it was easy to see why men were attracted to her as a youngster saw her as the perfect girlfriend material. She had a fine body, knew how to dress to show it for the best, and was a favourite of photographer David Bailey himself an icon of the time.

In the film world she starred in many films, but people with an interest in her movies will remember her starring role in ‘Don't Look Now’ (1973) with Donald Sutherland where they portray a married couple who travel to Venice following the recent accidental death of their daughter who drowned. The film was infamous or famous depending on your view for a sex scene involving Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland where the actors are rumoured to have engage in an actual real sex act in the film although both deny it.
