Friday Night Football at the Cardiff City Stadium

DECEMBER, which many in the football world regard an important indicator to a clubs potential for the end of the season and for all teams it’s a very busy month. Past seasons have shown teams occupying the top spots in the league tend to be there or about come the end of the season promotion wise. December could make or break a team’s season.

Cardiff City kick off with a Friday night home game at the Cardiff City Stadium one of four home games this month. Advantage Bluebirds, we will have to wait and see.

Three wins on the trot, second in the table, should have the fans excited but the crowds at the Cardiff City Stadium are still poor. The Bluebirds maybe riding high in the Championship but some managers are not happy with the style of play of Neil Warnock’s team and have been vocal with their opinions. A string of attacks on his team from their physical style of play to time-wasting have been thrown at Warnock and his team in particular after the win at Nottingham Forest last weekend with the Forest boss Mark Warburton none to pleased.

Speaking about the controversy the Cardiff boss Warnock insist Cardiff's performance in the East Midlands was 'men against boys' and accepting the criticism as purely 'bitterness'.

Not the best fixture for a Friday night for the visitors and their fans especially with Cardiff unbeaten in the league at home and Warnock is planning a fourth straight win and another clean sheet. On the player front Cardiff could lose their Icelandic midfielder Aron Gunnarsson who has rejected a new deal and could leave in the summer. He could extend his stay if Cardiff win promotion to the Premier League but he has expressed an interest in a move abroad.

The stats suggest the game should be a walk in the park for Cardiff having won four of their last five games while the visitors are no wins in the last five games but two draws and three defeats. Last season Norwich did the double over the Bluebirds and at the corresponding fixture they won 1-0 the goal scored by former Cardiff striker Cameron Jerome who could be available for the game tonight.
Team news and Cardiff will again be without Kenneth Zohore according to reports Jazz Richards, Kadeem Harris and Lee Camp remain on the sidelines. Mendez-Laing and Gunnarsson did some light training yesterday and it’s hoped both will be fit for Norwich. Omar Bogle is available for the Bluebirds after serving his three-match ban could well find himself on the bench.

A win could see the Welshman move within a point of top of the table Wolves who play away at Birmingham on Monday. Third place Sheffield United three points behind second place Cardiff face a trip to Millwall on Saturday.
