FA Cup and the Bluebirds are away…

It was the FA Cup draw last night, Cardiff City was in it, something happen that has not happened before in the early rounds anyway, and you will notice it quickly.

In my imaginary trip to Wembley where I pick a team in the opening round follow them until they lose and then switch to the winners of the game this weekend my team were non-league Slough Town. On Sunday, they were home against League One Gillingham and were hoping for an upset/giant killing to reach the third round of the cup but it was not to be.

Gillingham run out 1-0 winners after an early goal in the second half in front of a 2,084 crowd at Slough’s Arbour Park, ground. From reports, it was a hard fought game, which the non-league team should have got something out of, but not Sunday.

League One side Gillingham were in the hat for Monday’s draw we can bet the players were sitting around the TV like their fans hoping to draw one of the big Premiership clubs and the disappointment drawing Cardiff City. Wait a minute! They are my team and in the Premier League, they should be over the moon and a home fixture for them and the likelihood of a weakened team.

I expect the league to take priority over this cup game with its importance to the club and fans we have a home game the following Saturday against Huddersfield Town. I personally, I like a cup run. By the way, I will be on my knees praying for a Cardiff victory and all the way to the final. Thing of Chris Sutton and the rest faces if Neil Warnock got his hand on the FA Cup and kept us in the Premier League.
