Must see TV - Week beginning Saturday 2 February 2019

Another poor upcoming week for TV viewing but after two weeks of nothing I decided to post today just off the back of two new series next week. The first is the return of “American Pickers” I love this kind of programmes the UK’s equivalent must be “Salvage Hunter” top-notch viewing. I have been waiting for the next show has well, Das Boot not the film but a new German TV series on Sky Atlantic can’t see it having the same intensity as the film. However, it is there to be watched, look out for my review next week.

Saturday – BBC 4 – Safe Harbour 9pm (New Series)

Five friends sailing from Brisbane to Indonesia go to the aid of a group of asylum seekers on a broken-down boat, a decision that alters their lives forever. The series begins with a double bill that raises plenty of “what would YOU have done?” questions for viewers to ponder. This is an Australian thriller

Monday – BBC 1 – Fraud Squad NHS 9.15am (New Series)

Don’t you hate like me people ripping off our precious NHS Michelle Ackerley presents a programme following the work of investigators in the NHS Counter Fraud Authority, beginning with the case of a hospital worker who stole more than £1,000,000 worth of surgical equipment to sell online.

Monday – BBC 1 - Moving On 2.15pm (New Series)

The return of the show created by Jimmy McGovern that features standalone dramas telling modern stories about characters who have reached turning points in their lives. A university cleaner masquerades as a lecturer and discovers a newfound confidence. It turns out he’s rather good at teaching, but keeping up the subterfuge isn’t easy.

Tuesday – History Channel – American Pickers 8pm (New Series)

Thank god some new series to be honest I have been getting sick of re-runs but still feel the need to watch them. In this episode skilled `pickers' Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz help, find an important part for a million-dollar car. Later, the guys pick over a massive bike shop closed since the 1980.

Wednesday – Sky Atlantic – Das Boot 9pm (New Series)

The film Das Boot is one of my favourite war based film so I have been waiting to see this TV re-boot. First, we follow a painfully young U-boat crew through their pre-sail preparations at the submarine pens of La Rochelle – the ridiculous rituals and toxic machismo – focusing on a brother and sister who will become separated by a freak accident. The crew has to survive a secret mission, while a German woman's loyalties are torn.

Wednesday – Dave – Hypothetical 10pm (New Series)

Comedy game show hosted by Josh Widdicombe and James Acaster two comics I like. Leading comedians are given increasingly absurd hypothetical situations and are scored on how well they would deal with them in this game show. The first episode features Tom Allen, Rob Beckett, Jessica Knappett, and Liza Tarbuck.
