Cardiff Eight Games Left

When you start seeing cricket results, you know the end is near for the football season in fact including the trip and hopefully we have fended off the dreaded prospect of a relegation battle mid table this season is fine for me.

Wolverhampton Wanderers V Cardiff City Sat 1 Apr 3pm
Today Cardiff face Wolves, who like the Bluebirds, have not had the most spectacular of seasons and could still be dragged into the relegation mire so both teams have plenty to play for. If I had to make a prediction on the outcome of this game, a draw.

Barnsley V Cardiff City Tue 4 Apr 7:45pm

Quick turn around on a game and Cardiff are on the road again to Barnsley for a Tuesday fixture. Based on today’s league table we are both level on 51 points with Barnsley having the better goal difference. Back in December they was a hell of a game at the Cardiff City Stadium with a minute left of full time the visitors had a 3-2 lead only for Pilkington to step up to the plate a level the score. A point salvaged! No, it was not to be with Barnsley scoring the winner five minutes into injury time. Again, I predict a draw.

Cardiff City V Brentford Sat 8 Apr 3pm

After two away fixtures Cardiff are home for a visit from Brentford. Again based on today’s league table they are a point below the Bluebirds so who knows what the position will be for this game. Strangely spooky that in the last game late goals played a major factor in the game.

Cardiff Were winning 1-0 with seven minutes left of full time when Brentford levelled the score. Cardiff retook the lead with a minute to go. However, the fourth official raised the broad to show five minutes of extra time, they scored and the game finished all square at two each. Cardiff to win.

Sheffield Wednesday V Cardiff City Fri 14 Apr 3pm

Looking into the future, I expect Sheffield Wednesday to be there and abouts when it comes to a play-off at the end of the season. Earlier in the season at the CCS, both teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. Defeat for the Bluebirds in this one.

Cardiff City V Nottingham Forest Mon 17 Apr 3pm

If Nottingham Forest are in the same league position for this game, they will be in dire trouble at the bottom end of the league table just above a relegation place. Having beaten them early in the season Cardiff with be looking to win and score a rare double over Forest. Victory for the Bluebirds
Wigan Athletic V Cardiff City Sat 22 Apr 3pm

Wigan have been relegation fodder most of the season but still they managed a 1-0 win at the CCS. Cardiff win

Cardiff City V Newcastle United Fri 28 Apr 7:45pm

Cardiff will be live on Sky for their final home game of the season against Newcastle who could come to the CCS needing a win for promotion. The away end will be packed anyway for the game. I hope the Cardiff City board will drop the admission price to help fill the ground. Defeat for the blues.

Huddersfield Town V Cardiff City Sun 7 May 12:00
Away for the final game of the season to a rampant Huddersfield who today are still in touching distance with an automatic promotion who know by then. Draw to end the season
