Another game that must be won because we are yet to win a game so far this season and coming off the back of manager Neil Warnock saying he would not bet on Cardiff staying up. Nice to see some confidence there Mr Warnock hopefully one of your press conference jokes.
Fulham were the big spenders from the three clubs promoted last season, over 100million a figure any team in the Premier League would be happy to have in their bank. But money does not buy success Fulham may have spent but they are only three points above Cardiff (bottom of the league) just outside a relegation spot having only picked up five points from their first eight games.
Last season in the Championship Cardiff drew 1-1 at Fulham and on Boxing Day at Cardiff City Stadium lost 4-2 to the Londoners.
One player not in the squad for the visit of Fulham will be Joe Ralls after the club failed to overturn his red card against Tottenham and begins a three-game ban. Ralls could have missed the next three games anyway with a chipped bone in his knee, and could be out for more than three games.
Others on their sickbed is Danny Ward with a reported knee injury, while fellow striker Gary Madine is doubtful with an illness. Warnock is concerns about the lack of choice in the striker department and he admitted they are low on numbers in an attacking sense ahead of another crucial home game.
“Madine has got a virus, which is really killing him, so he is struggling. On top of Ward, it means we are a little bit short in the strikers’ area.”
However, on the plus side, Aron Gunnarsson could be in the squad against the Londoners and Alex Smithies could also be available for Fulham.
A surprise the bookies and pundits are in most cases are predicting a point in the game even Robbie Savage predicting they will be held in a 2-2 draw with fellow new boys Fulham. It could be worth a punt both teams to score!
