Road to Wembley and Road to the Welsh Cup Final

Both the FA Cup and Welsh Cup play this weekend. With a team in each, plenty to keep me interested and I had to keep an eye on my team Cardiff City as well. This is not about Cardiff but they beat Fulham 4-2, yes first win of the season.

In the FA Cup Slough Town are my team at this moment and had a trip to Eastbourne. Both teams play in the Vanarama National League South and Eastbourne have already suffered a heavy defeat to Slough (4-2) as well as have league position over the home team. Favourites to procced into the next round Slough maybe but this is the cup.

In the hat for Monday, which sees Division 2 and 3 of the Football League entering the draw, will be Slough Town after beating Eastbourne 2-1. Slough will now be hoping to face one of the bigger League clubs, the like of Portsmouth, Barnsley, or Sunderland.

In the first round of the Welsh Cup Monmouth are my horse in the ride to the final in May until they lose that is. Monmouth visited Undy Athletic ground The Causeway, Magor, Newport in played in the Welsh League Division 1 while Monmouth are in Division Two giving the home team the edge on paper. The score was 4-3 a fairly close game at halftime the visitors had a 2-1 lead but Undy kept the game lively. So Monmouth will be in the draw mid-day on Monday.
The only two Cardiff based teams left in the competition both lost today but there is other chance later - the third round when Cardiff Met and the rest of the Welsh Premier teams enter in that round.

Route to Final (Bold my Team)
First Round – Undy Athletic 3 - 4 Monmouth Town
Second Round Qualifying - Monmouth Town FC 4 - 2 Wattsville
First Round Qualifying - Treharris Western Athletic FC 8 - 1 Aberystwyth Exiles
On the iPlayer, the BBC camera was at Dunston UTS today and they face Gateshead some 90+ ahead in league position. It was a local derby six odd miles separating to clubs, which generated a bumper attendance 2520 for the game. The winners of this fourth qualifying round clash meaning that there will be at least one North East non-league representative will be in the first round proper draw on Monday (BBC 2 7pm).

Dunston UTS from the Northern League Division One fell on the sword losing as National League Gateshead has you would expect they were just too good. This was Dunston’s sixth game in the FA Cup.
